With its fixed tip beds firmly in wood; rotating the log in one direction engages the 8 1/2" hinged hook, while pulling in the opposite direction releases it to begin another rotation, applying an efficient ratcheting action to roll the log. The forged carbon-steel head is affixed to the ash handle with a 2 3/8" tapered socket and secured with a steel screw.
